F-1 Visa Information

How to obtain a student Visa

Our F-1 Application Process
  1. Apply to Nomen Global: Submit your pre-application to the school. Once you have submitted some basic information our admissions team will be able to guide you through the rest of the F-1 Visa application process. We will help you get to the US, prepare for university, and then transfer to a US university or other program when you are finished studying with us.

  2. Receive an I-20 Form: When the school accepts your application, they will issue you an I-20 form. This form is essential for your visa application. We issue these promptly and will review the requirements to keep your visa in status (GPA, attendance, work restrictions, etc.) with you to avoid trouble throughout your stay.

  3. Pay the SEVIS Fee: Pay the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee online. If you need help navigating this step please contact us here.

  4. Schedule a Visa Interview: Once you've paid the SEVIS fee, schedule a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. The purpose of this interview is to make sure you are coming to the USA to pursue education. If this is not your goal you should apply for a visa that more closely aligns with your intentions. You can find additional tips for passing your F-1 Visa Interview on our blog as well as information regarding bringing your family and other general f-1 visa information.

  5. Attend the Visa Interview: Attend the interview and answer the consular officer's questions truthfully and comprehensively. We are happy to have someone practice the interview with you if this step makes you nervous.

  6. Receive Visa: If your visa is approved, you'll receive your passport with the F-1 visa. At this point you can contact us about finding housing, and getting transportation from the airport to our school.

  7. Onboarding: Your first day at school will be an orientation the Friday before you start classes. We will give you a tour, collect your first payment, and have you take a placement test.

  8. Take the Placement Test: Our placement test will gauge where you fit on our Language Proficiency Scale (LPS). Knowing this will allow us to put you in a classroom with students of a similar English level so that you can best succeed.

  9. First Day: Make sure you get to school a little early and our student services coordinator will introduce you to your teacher.

Remember: The specific requirements and timelines for the F-1 visa application process may vary depending on your country of origin. It's essential to start the process early to ensure that you have enough time to complete all the necessary steps.
